The antioxidants, enzymes and probiotic acids naturally occurring in raw kombucha have a positive effect on one’s emotional well-being. In our flavor Uplifting this is complemented with the properties of these three herbs:
St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum) is a shrubby plant with clusters of yellow flowers that have oval, elongate petals. The plant is named St. John’s wort because it is often in full bloom around June 24th, the day traditionally celebrated as the birthday of John the Baptist. Both the flowers and leaves are used for medicinal purposes.
St. John’s wort has a history of medicinal use dating back to ancient Greece, where it was used to treat a range of illnesses, including various “nervous disorders.” Today it is most widely known as a herbal treatment for mild to moderate depression. St. John’s wort also has antibacterial and antiviral properties and, because of its anti-inflammatory properties, has been used topically to help heal wounds and burns.
We use organic, dried flowers and leaves for my “Uplifting” tea blend.
Damiana (Turnera diffusa) has a long history of use in traditional herbal medicine throughout the world. It is thought to act as an aphrodisiac, antidepressant, tonic, and diuretic. The leaves are used to relieve excess mental activity and nervous debility, and as a tonic for the hormonal and central nervous systems. It can relieve anxiety, depression, and headaches during menstruation. Damiana also helps to balance female hormone levels and control hot flashes.
We use organic, cut damiana leaves and leave stems for our “Uplifting” tea blend.
Cornflower (Centaurea cyanus) is an annual and ranges in height from 8-inches to 32-inches tall. The name cyanus refers to the brilliant blue color of the cornflower. The name was given in honor of Cyanus from Greek mythology. Cyanus was fond of the color blue and would drape himself with cornflowers and wear blue clothing.
Maybe not very traditional in use, we added the cornflower in our “Uplifting” tea mix for its qualities of inspiration and enhancing creativity.
We use organic, dried cornflowers for our “Uplifting” tea blend.
